Studios

The Music Resource Center of Cincinnati is located at 3032 Woodburn Avenue in East Walnut Hills.  We are within walking distance from Hoffman Parham Elementary School and Purcell Marion High School.  The #31 bus line stops right outside of our front entrance, and we also have ample parking for volunteers and parents in our private lot.  Our 3771 sq. ft. space houses Digital Studios, Rehearsal Studios, Practice Rooms and a Teaching Studio.

Digital Project Studios

Each of our four project studios are outfitted with an iMac computer, various recording software, headphone amp and MIDI keyboard. Members can check out headphones and Shure or Rhode mics from the front desk. In these studios teens can work on a solo or group project to start and complete digital compositions, be it Hip Hop beats or an entire backing band for a solo rock guitarist. Depending on the Track the member is on, studios are either assigned on a first come basis, or if the member is on the Fame Track, the studios can be reserved for an hour or two up to a week in advance.

Multi-Track Recording Studio

Our brand new Multi-Track Recording Studio, completed in Fall 2010, gives our members a full-fledged, real life recording experience.   The studio has three rooms—a control room, vocal booth, and live room—with multi-track recording capabilities to handle any material from vocals to full bands.  Because the new studio’s recording software and equipment are more advanced than our Digital Project Studios’, it is reserved for our Fame Track II and Fame Track I members.

Rehearsal Studios

Our two Rehearsal Studios are able to accommodate full-fledged band rehearsal sessions, even if the musicians don’t bring any instruments! MRC offers local teen musicians two fully outfitted rehearsal rooms that feature full five-piece drum kits, guitar and bass amps, and a P.A. system. Guitars, basses, mics and cables all may be checked out as well. The centerpiece of Rehearsal Room A is a fabulous donated Baby Grand Piano (picture left). This piano is used daily for piano lessons or for practicing between lessons.

Teaching Studio

We have a multi-faceted teaching studio equipped with four “digital stations” where we can teach classes with with up to twelve students at one time.  The new iMacs are utilized for lessons on a number of subjects such as our required Digital Recording class and Orientation walk-throughs. This room can also be used to make beats or practice on GarageBand when all Digital Studios are occupied. The Teaching Studio is also available to schools and organizations who would like to do an in-house workshop for a discounted rate.

Practice Studio

Practice Studio A is home to an upright piano, an electric drum kit, keyboard, saxophone and violins (to name just a few of our many instruments). This room is used for lessons, practicing, jamming with fellow members or just trying out an instrument before committing to lessons. Practice Studio B will be opened soon and will be used for guitar, bass, voice and violin lessons and practicing.

In the FUTURE we plan to have:

Dance Room

Our long term goal is to have a dance studio.  This room will be the perfect place whether you want to just stop by to blow off some steam, or take part in a hip hop or ballet dance classes.  The studio will be lined with huge mirros so teh kids can be sure they’re getting their steps just right!
