Do you want to know how royalties and CD sales translate into income?  Join us Wednesday, February 15 at  5:00pm.  Lawyer and local musician, Sean Rhiney, will provide an overview of the copyright process and give examples of how you can start protecting your music—and earning an income with it.

Sean Rhiney is a locally based lawyer and musician. In 2002, he co-founded the Midpoint Music Festival – an annual international event that brings hundreds of cutting edge artists to Cincinnati each September.  In addition to playing music, he has written about national and local artists for CityBeat and Cincymusic.com for ten years. He is currently the Director of Xavier University’s Center for Community-Engaged Learning.

Open to MRC members: Our first Music Video Workshop is coming to a close and the participants are ready to premiere their work! Each teen participating in the workshop learned about:

• shooting digital video with different cameras
• creating storyboards,
• video editing & sequencing

…plus, working with a green screen to create special effects! The workshop is the first opportunity for MRC teens to make a complete, professionally shot and edited video to the original music they make every day at the Center. We’re excited to see the finished products they’ve worked so hard to complete!

]]> http://mrccinci.org/2012/01/04/end-of-the-month-event-music-video-premiere/feed/ 0 MRC Adds New Studio http://mrccinci.org/2011/09/13/mrc-adds-new-studio/ http://mrccinci.org/2011/09/13/mrc-adds-new-studio/#comments Tue, 13 Sep 2011 19:42:12 +0000 admin http://mrccinci.org/?p=694 We’re pleased to announce the completion of our latest studio, the Fame Track II Digital Project Suite.  This digital production studio is open for our more advanced, Fame Track II Members only.  The studio has an iMac outfitted with Garageband as well as the more advanced Logic Pro.  Before this studio’s completion, our advanced students had only experienced Logic in our Multi-Track Studio, which requires staff supervision to use.  Now, on their own time, Members will be able to get personal hands-on experience with the more advanced and powerful tools that Logic Pro has to offer.

As with our other Digital Project Studios, members will also be able to sign out microphones and make recordings in the studio.  On top of all that, the studio has visual perks like artistic lighting and sleek new furniture.  Says Audio Instructor Max Raphael, “This studio is a great addition for our members.  It has more perks than just advanced software.  It’s a quiet, exclusive space, with a calm, creative, even professional atmosphere.  Our goal was to make this studio feel special and unique, so that members really feel like they’ve earned something by working to get on Fame Track II.”

“This studio is a motivator for people to actually continue onto Fame Track II,” says Ellen, a Fame Track II Member.  ” I have some friends who are excited to get their quizzes done so they can experience the awesomeness of the Yellow Studio!”

Both staff and members are looking forward to seeing the learning potential and quality of productions improve thanks to this new facility.

In his interview, shot at MRC, Devonte talks about his life with music and moving on to Berklee College of Music in Boston this Fall—the most prestigious contemporary music college in the country.  Once there, he will be studying vocal performance and composition.  We are sad to see Devonte leave but are very proud of everything he has accomplished, and excited to see where his amazing passion and talents take him!

We hope we see you at the next MRC recital—stay tuned for future MRC events!
