Volunteering at MRC is fun, unique, and rewarding!
Students at MRC can benefit greatly even from the simple presence of another adult. If you’re not a musician, there are other aspects of our program that rely on the efforts of volunteers. If you are musically inclined, even better! For musicians looking to volunteer we often have a need for private lesson instructors. Please note that all of our volunteers must successfully pass a background check.
Volunteer Music Instructors generally donate their time one day a week, for at least 2-4 hours. Hours we are open to our members are 2-7 PM, Mon-Thurs (12-6 PM in the Summer). Students meet with a teacher for 30 minute, weekly private lessons. Each student may be from a completely different walk of life, with different musical interests, goals, and skill levels. Teachers excel at MRC by meeting each individual where he or she is, and being open to creating a fun and educational learning experience for teens that makes them want to come back.
There can be plenty of things for a volunteer to do with MRC other than music instruction. We often have a need for additional help with things like promotion, marketing, design, etc. that require professional experience, but give interested individuals without music experience a chance to help out. For those with less niche experience than the areas mentioned above, we also have the need occasionally arise for friends and volunteers that can attend events to support and promote MRC.
