About Volunteering

Students at MRC can benefit greatly even from the simple presence of another adult. Even if you’re not a musician, there are plenty of other aspects of our program that rely on the efforts of volunteers. And if you’re musically inclined, even better! There are plenty of opportunities to help our members with songwriting and recording.

How Can I Help?

For immediate position openings, check the top of this page. Otherwise, stay tuned for our Volunteer Fairs. These “open house” sessions are scheduled just before our volunteer “semesters”. The Volunteer Fair gives you the opportunity to tour the facility, meet the staff at MRC and interview for a specific role at MRC.

Music Instructor

Volunteer Music Instructors generally donate their time one day a week, for least 2-4 hours. Hours we are open to our members are 2-7pm, Mon-Thurs. Students meet with a teacher for 30 minute, weekly private lessons. Each student may be from a completely different walk of life, with different musical interests, goals, and skill levels. Teachers excel at MRC by meeting each individual where he or she is, and creating a fun and educational learning experience for that teen. Have Ideas Of Your Own? There can also be room for creativity in how you contribute to MRC’s programming—starting a choir group, hosting group workshops on subjects like music theory, etc.

Other Positions

From helping out with facility upkeep, to assisting the Executive Director with small projects, there can be plenty of things for a volunteer to do at MRC other than music instruction. These openings become available as MRC grows its programming and operations. If you have something you think you can offer, the Volunteer Fairs are usually the best times to reach out and try to get involved in MRC’s efforts and programming.
